How the mission comes to life
Health Within Reach was co-founded by Chase Fichman, Joao Wan, and Cooper Fichman, student leaders committed to helping make essential medical equipment more accessible to people in need.
They created Health Within Reach to bring students, families, donors, businesses, and nonprofit organizations together to support seniors, uninsured individuals, and children living with chronic medical conditions while giving students meaningful opportunities to lead and serve their communities.

Equipment that expands access to care
Health Within Reach intends to help qualified nonprofit and community organizations obtain practical medical equipment that can improve monitoring, support earlier awareness of health changes, strengthen day-to-day care, and help people remain safer and more independent.
Our goal is not simply to distribute devices. It is to help put useful healthcare tools into the hands of organizations and caregivers that can use them to serve seniors, uninsured individuals, children with chronic medical needs, and other people who may have limited access to essential equipment.
Compact pulse oximeters provide a simple way to monitor blood oxygen saturation and pulse rate. For community organizations, senior-care programs, and individuals managing ongoing health concerns, access to this type of equipment can provide useful information that supports more informed conversations with healthcare professionals.
Potential impact: greater awareness, convenient monitoring, and increased confidence for caregivers and individuals.
Automatic blood pressure monitors make routine blood-pressure checks easier and more accessible. Providing these devices through community and nonprofit organizations can help individuals participate more actively in monitoring their health while giving caregivers another practical tool for supporting ongoing wellness.
Potential impact: easier routine monitoring, stronger health awareness, and better access to basic health information.
Cardiac monitoring technology can provide organizations and caregivers with additional information about heart activity when appropriate for their setting. Health Within Reach intends to support access to equipment that helps qualified organizations strengthen the resources available to the populations they serve.
Potential impact: stronger monitoring capabilities and additional support for community-based healthcare programs.
Our longer-term goal includes helping smaller hospitals, retirement communities, and similar care organizations gain access to more comprehensive monitoring solutions such as the mWear system. Technology of this type can help organizations extend monitoring capabilities across multiple patients while giving care teams additional tools to manage health information efficiently.
Potential impact: scalable monitoring, greater efficiency for care teams, and broader access to technology that smaller organizations may otherwise struggle to obtain.
Equipment shown and described represents examples of products Health Within Reach may support. Actual equipment purchases and distributions will depend on recipient needs, available funding, organizational eligibility, appropriate use, and applicable requirements. Health Within Reach does not provide medical advice or determine individual medical treatment.
Volunteering
Health Within Reach connects students, families, and community volunteers with meaningful opportunities to support seniors, uninsured individuals, military veterans, children living with chronic medical conditions, and health organizations.
Our volunteer efforts are designed to address practical community needs while giving volunteers the opportunity to make a direct and measurable difference.
Assist with community outreach, wellness initiatives, equipment distribution, senior-support programs, and activities that help older adults remain connected, safe, and independent.
Support community organizations, health-access events, medical-equipment initiatives, donation drives, and outreach programs serving people with limited access to healthcare resources.
Partner with veteran-focused organizations on service projects, equipment initiatives, community events, donation drives, and programs supporting veterans and their families.
Work with nonprofit organizations and community partners serving children and families managing chronic medical conditions through fundraising, equipment drives, special projects, and volunteer events.
Support nonprofit healthcare organizations, community clinics, senior-care organizations, and other health-focused partners with volunteer projects, fundraising, equipment initiatives, events, and community outreach.
Students, parents, families, businesses, school organizations, and community groups can participate. Opportunities vary based on the needs of our nonprofit and healthcare partners.
If your organization serves seniors, uninsured individuals, military veterans, children with chronic medical conditions, or other populations with healthcare-related needs, tell us about your volunteer needs. We will work to identify opportunities where our students, families, and community volunteers can make a meaningful contribution.
